Por primera vez estoy preparando con tiempo una fiesta. En vista de que en casa acabamos haciéndolo todo con prisas y a medias, me puse pronto a hacer los adornos para Halloween. Y ya tengo la calabaza. Ya sé que no es una celebración tradicional en España, pero se ha ido introduciendo poco a poco y los niños disfrutan mucho con ella. A mi hija le encanta. Además estuvimos en Nueva York en Halloween y tengo un estupendo recuerdo.
For the first time I am preparing a celebration in good time. In view of the fact that at home we just do everything too hastily, I have started early to make the ornaments for Halloween. And I already have the pumpkin. I know that it is not a traditional celebration in Spain, but it has gradually been introduced and children enjoy it very much. My daughter loves it. He medido mi tiempo y mis fuerzas y me he decidido por hacer amigurumis. Me divierte y son rápidos y fáciles. Los pondré en el blog cuando llegue el día, todavía me faltan los últimos retoques. En realidad, mi ilusión hubiera sido hacer unos muñecos de tela cuyos patrones compré hace unas semanas. Pero no sé si podré. Si saco suficiente tiempo… Son de The Cheswick Company, es decir, de Cathy Pendleton, una interesante artista que lleva trabajando en esto desde 1992 con la intención de recuperar una antigua tradición artística pero renovándola con su sello personal. Así que sus muñecos tienen un aire antiguo y moderno a la vez. Me parecen encantadores, hogareños y muy originales.
I have measured my time and my strength and I have decided to make some amigurumis. I enjoy them and they are quick and easy to make. I will put them on the blog when I finish, they still need some final touches. In fact, my illusion had been making a few dolls from some patterns I bought a few weeks ago. A través de The Cheswick Company he conocido a otros artistas que tienen en común el que su trabajo se basa en la recuperación del arte y la artesanía tradicionales norteamericanos, lo que en su país se conoce como American Folk Art. Algunos me gustan mucho, como William H Roy, diseñador gráfico, profesor de arte y paisajista que lo dejó todo para dedicarse a hacer preciosas obras de madera por las que ha sido galardonado en numerosas ocasiones. En fin, es todo un mundo por conocer y hay numerosas páginas web por donde empezar.
Through The Cheswick Company I have known other artists who have in common that their work is based on the recovery of American traditional art and crafts, which in USA is known as “American Folk Art”. I like some very much, as William H Roy, graphic designer, art teacher and landscape architect who left everything to spend his time making precious wood works which has been awarded for on numerous occasions. Anyway, it is a whole world to know and there are many web pages to start with.

Que cosas tan bonitas has hecho, a mi particularmente no me gusta esta fiesta, pero cuando mi hijo estuvo de Erasmus en Amberes coincidió con estuvimos allí y estaba todo ambientado y me gustó. Un beso
