Los mapas me fascinan. Son misteriosos porque revelan dónde se encuentra lo que buscas y cómo llegar allí y porque no consigo entender cómo es posible dibujarlos. Son mágicos porque esconden aventuras y viajes por realizar y todos los sitios parecen cercanos y lejanos a la vez. Son bonitos porque describen una naturaleza caprichosa de montañas, ríos, laderas, mares,… Y cuentan nuestra historia porque las fronteras y los nombres de los países van cambiando. Los mapas antiguos pertenecen a un tiempo que ya no existe pero que ha quedado atrapado en ellos. Podría daros tantas razones para publicar este post…
I find maps fascinating. They are mysterious because they reveal where to find what you’re looking for and how to arrive there, and because I’m not able to understand how is possible to draw them. They are magic because they hide adventures and trips to make and everywhere seem to be close and distant simultaneously. They are nice because they describe a capricious nature with mountains, rivers, hillsides, seas… And they tell our history because the borders and the names of the countries are changing. Ancient maps belong to a time already doesn’t exist but has been trapped in them. It could give you so many reasons to publish this post…
