Deshilachado is not a blog about cooking, but it’s been a long time since I like to share with you this face of my life because I have the feeling that I still have something for telling you, since  embroidering and cooking are my therapies when I very stressed or sad. Cooking is a way of loving your family and, on a personal level, it’s a relaxing, creative and very sensual activity: flavors, smells, textures, colors…

My grandmother was a great cook and my mother and my sister are too. My mother had the success of teaching us to cook, but really: from a stew to a pastry, certainly, cakes and sweets.

My grandmother’s recipe book is a treasure that contains Italian recipes inherited from her family, Torrevieja’s dishes – where she was born and lived until the Civil war broke out, when she went to Valencia – and Valencian and Aragonese recipes. Although, as a good cook, she only needed to know the ingredients and the basic steps, so she didn’t write anything else (quantities, time, temperature…). It’s possible to tell literally that the recipes have been handed down from mothers to daughters while cooking.

In order, myy grandmother, my mother, I and my sister.

I think I’m like my grandmother in a thing: I adore to cook traditional recipes, which I have inherited, but also to cook new dishes. She used to write down the recipes my grandfather’s patients told her. I keep the ones from my friends and those I read in books and blogs.

Mi querida abuela.
My loving grandmother.

My website of reference is Gastronomía & Cía. I’ve discovered many things with it (recipes, utensils, techniques…) and its cooking style suits mine. When I want new recipes I write what I have in the fridge in its search engine and let myself be led. Whole Kitchen and Cualquiera puede Cocinar are also very nice.
