Tutorial: calendario de Adviento / Tutorial: Advent calendar

Acabo de terminar nuestro calendario de Adviento. ¡Justo a tiempo! Hace años que quería hacerlo, pero siempre se me hacía tarde. Mi madre compró una casa de cartulina de Unicef cuando éramos pequeños y me encantaba abrir las ventanitas. Luego yo se la compré a mi hija que disfruta tanto como yo lo hacía. Así que estaba claro, tenía que ser una casa. Éste es el resultado.

I have just finished our Advent calendar. Just in time! I’ve wanted to make it for years, but I was always late. My mother gave me a cardboard house from Unicef when I was a girl and I loved to open the little windows. Then I bought one for my daughter who enjoys it as much as I did. So it was clear, it had to be a house. This is the result.

1- He utilizado cartón, fieltro, tela, cinta e hilo de bordar. Empezamos recortando el cartón en forma de casa y dibujando las ventanas y la puerta. Luego he repetido el mismo dibujo en el fieltro, que he cortado dejando un margen a los lados y por debajo.

1- I used cardboard, felt, fabric, ribbon and embroidery thread. Start by cutting out the cardboard house and drawing the windows and the door. Then repeat the same drawing on the felt and cut leaving a margin on the sides and under.

2- He cortado trozos de tela un poco más grandes que las ventanas, eligiendo los motivos navideños que me gustaban. Y los he pegado en el cartón coincidiendo con las ventanas, con pegamento especial para tela. También he cortado y pegado en tela el tejado, dejando un margen de 2 cm.

2 - Cut the pieces of fabric a bit bigger than the windows, choosing the Christmas motifs you prefer. Stick them on the cardboard but matching with the windows, with special glue for fabric. Also cut and sitck the fabric roof, leaving a margin.

3- Después he repasado las ventanas del fieltro con pinturas de cera. Y he escrito los números del calendario aleatoriamente con rotulador para bordar (se borra con agua).

3- Next trace the felt windows using crayons. And write the calendar days randomly using a fabric-tip pen for embroidery (it goes away with water).

4- A continuación he bordado los números a punto de cadeneta, el Belén y los adornos.

4- Then embroider the days, the Nativity scene and the ornaments using chain stitch.

5- Tras recortar las ventanas del fieltro con un cúter y pegar el belén en el cartón donde dibujé la puerta, he pegado el fieltro en el cartón, haciendo coincidir ventanas y puerta y doblándolo por la parte trasera, donde lo he fijado con cinta de embalar de papel.

5- After cutting the felt windows with a cutter and sticking the scene on the cardboard where the door is, stick the felt on the cardboard, matching the windows and the door. Fold the back side and fix it using paper packaging tape.

6- Para terminar, he cortado y pegado trozos de fieltro rojo en la parte trasera de las ventanas y la puerta para que resulte más fácil abrirlas y no se vea el revés de los bordados.

6- Finally, cut and stick red felt pieces at the back of the windows and the door, so it is easier to open them and the reverse of the embroideries keeps hidden.
