Tutorial Mother’s Day: knitted bows

Mother’s Day approaches, so I propose you a gift the children will enjoy making, a knitted bow that can be used as brooch or hairpin.

Sure you all have made any time knit stitch and/or stockinette stitch, so you know that it is very easy and it will not be difficult at all for the children to learn. The other day my niece and my daughter just needed five minutes.

1- Make a rectangle approximately 4.3’’ x 2’’. The number of stitches will depend on the thickness of the yarn and the needles and also on whether knit stitch or stockinette stitch is used. I have done 50 rounds of 15 stitches for the green bow and 22 rounds of 15 stitches for the blue bow.

2- When the rectangle is ready, fold the middle, as in the photo, and with the remaining thread sew a few stitches so it keeps tight. Then, wrap the middle using a different color yarn.

3- Finally, place at the back a needle for brooches, a safety pin or a hairpin.
