Nuevo proyecto con The Crafty Room: Bloque del Mes / New project with The Crafty Room: Block of the Month

From this month I am going to write a common post on Deshilachado and The Crafty Room, where we have organized a new project: Blockof the Month. Every month I will propose you a patchwork block, explaining how to make it. I hope you feel like making it at home and taking part actively through The Crafty Room, where you can leave comments, contact with enquires or answer them and upload your blocks to the group we have created on.

Antes de empezar sólo unas indicaciones:
4. Podéis coser a mano o a máquina.

Before beginning, just a few comments:
1. I will make 11” X 11” blocks. From these, I will give you the size of the component pieces of every block. You can change them but maintaing proportions.
2. The purpose is not to make a concrete quilt, but if your idea is to make a quilt or any other thing with your blocks, you should take into account the fabrics you use so that they match.
3. Choose the fabrics you prefer, but we reccomend you that they be 100 % cotton. If you use remnants, textures should be similar and never elastic.
4. You can sew by hand or use a sewing machine. I prefer the sewing machine, but if you do not have one, no problem. Use back stitch.

The block of September is called Economy and we have thought to begin with this one  because it is quite simple.

Su esquema es el siguiente:

Its diagram is as follows:

Therefore, we have to cut 4 pieces A, 4 pieces B and 1 piece C (you can download here). The rulers are not all the same, you will see the difference between those for pathcwork and from  stationery, so I recommend you to draw the whole block on paper, drawing the pieces so that they fit perfectly. Then, cut a piece of each on paper (A, B and C) and use as templates. So they will also fit on the cloth. I always do it this way.

El montaje es de esta forma:

The assembling is this way:
