In July I told you about some exhibitions I wanted to visit this summer. Many of them were in Madrid, so we have stayed there for four days. It has been a great getaway: the city was calm and the weather was perfect, so we have been wandering a lot. Besides, the exhibitions have met my expectations.
En el museo Thyssen-Bornemisza visitamos Vogue. Like a painting y Zurbarán, una nueva mirada. Zurbarán no es uno de mis pintores favoritos, pero admiro su dominio de la luz.
And I loved Vogue's exhibition. Marvellous photographies, full of strength, art and elegance.
Besides there I could enjoy one of the dresses Valentino’s PreFall 2015 collection. Wonderful!
We also visited the Cerralbo Museum to see the exhibition Korda, feminine portraiture. The museum itself was a great discovery; it is a small palace which retains the furniture and the multiple collections of the Marquis of Cerralbo.
Another exhibition we enjoyed the most was Collectionismand Modernity, at the Reina Sofia museum. We wanted "to say goodbye" to one of our favourite paintings, Paul Gauguin's "Nafea faa ipoipo" ("When will you marry?" in tahitian), because it could be the last time we have this chance. But there were also works by Van Gogh, Pissarro, Picasso...
On the other hand, it was long time since we wanted to visit National Library of Spain. It is necessary to ask for a guided tour. We liked it very much and I think that it is a good idea to take children with you, but on the express tour, because the other takes two hours.
Of course, I got to Pontejos, the area of needlecraft stores, close to Puerta del Sol. So to sum up, this a new store that to recommend you, Tejidos del Centro. It has a great range of fabrics and very good prices.
