Hay proyectos que están encima de la mesa durante meses, como éste: quería forrar un álbum para poner mis muestras de puntos de bordado. ¡Por fin lo he hecho!
Some projects stay on the table for months, as this one: it wanted to wrap an album and place there my samples of embroidery stitches. Finally I made it!
Necesitamos tela, cinta, hilo de bordar y pegamento para tela.
You need some fabric, ribbon, embroidery thread and glue for fabric.
1– Yo he utilizado un álbum de fotos antiguo. Lo primero es medirlo de alto y de ancho. Podéis utilizar una sola tela o combinar varias, como he hecho yo. La medida final de ancho debe abarcar la cubierta y las solapas.
1- I have used an old photo album. The first thing is to do is to measure the height and the width. You can use an only fabric or combine several, as I have done. The final measurement of width must include the cover and the flaps.
2– En un trozo de tela liso, bordad “Puntos de bordado”. Yo lo he hecho a punto de tallo.
2- In a plain piece of fabric, embroider “Embroidery stitches”. I made it with stem stitch.
3– Por otro lado, unimos las telas de la cubierta y colocamos la pieza sobre el álbum para situar dónde vamos a coser la tela con el bordado. Cortamos ésta al tamaño adecuado con unas tijeras de zig zag y la cosemos con la máquina a pespunte. Al mismo tiempo, pegamos la cinta encima de la costura que une las dos piezas de tela.
3- On the other hand, join the fabrics of the cover and put the piece on the album to place where sewing the fabric with the embroidery. Cut it to the appropriate size using zig zag scissors and sew it with the sewing machine (backstitch). At the same time, stick the ribbon on the seam that joins both fabric pieces.
He empleado un pegamento permanente en barra especial para tela que me gusta mucho; se llama Super Stik. Al no ser líquido no traspasa la tela dejando una mancha y pega muy bien. Si preferís, podéis coser la cinta.
I used a permanent glue stick for fabric which I love; it is called Super Stik. As it is not liquid it does not penetrate the fabric leaving a spot, and sticks very well. If you prefer, you can sew the ribbon.
4– A continuación, cosemos las telas de las solapas a la cubierta, como veis en la foto. Cortamos en diagonal las esquinas, sobrehilamos los bordes de la cubierta y cosemos el dobladillo de las solapas. Finalmente, damos la vuelta a las solapas y planchamos bien.
4- Next, sew the fabrics of the flaps to the cover, as you can see in the photo. Cut the corners in a diagonal, overcast the cover corners and sew the hem of the flaps. Finally, turn the flaps and iron well.
