Gracias a mis clases estoy conociendo a personas estupendas. Aunque es un tópico, también es muy cierto que además de enseñar estoy aprendiendo mucho. No sólo preparando las clases, sino de todo lo que saben mis alumnas. Un claro ejemplo es Yvana: encantadora, generosa, una buena compañera y “un pozo de conocimientos”.
Thanks to my lessons I am meeting wonderful people. Though it is a cliché, it is also very true that apart from teaching I am learning a lot; not only preparing the lessons, but also from what my pupils know. Yvana is a clear example of this: she is lovely, generous, a good companion and ” a fount of knowledge “.

Yvana se dedica profesionalmente a las labores en Didal, donde organizan, guían y enseñan vainica, patchwork, ganchillo, punto,… Al frente está Rosana, que creó la empresa hace 20 años para hacer llegar al público una forma de trabajar en la que se conservan tradiciones y un saber hacer que se mantiene en su familia y al que es difícil acceder hoy en día, pero que ellas están teniendo la generosidad de transmitir. Para mí esto es de gran valor porque muchas técnicas se están perdiendo por no querer o no tener interés en enseñarlas y en muchos casos las nuevas generaciones no continúan practicándolas, así que se perderán.
She works as a crafter in Didal, where you may learn pin stitch, patchwork, crochet, knit… Rosana leads this company and she created it 20 years ago in order to show a way of working preserving traditions and a know-how. These qualities are not usual nowadays but they are maintained in her family and they are generous in sharing them. For me, this has a great value because many techniques are dissapearing as nobody wants or has interest in teaching them. And in many cases new generations do not continue practicing them, so they will be lost.

Detrás de estas creaciones están también la madre y la tía de Rosana, Teresa, a quien he tenido la suerte de conocer. ¿Os imagináis tener como alumna a una mujer con muchos años de experiencia y unas manos que hacen los maravillosos trabajos que os muestro? Al principio me sentí abrumada, pero su ilusión acabó con mis dudas. Y así es también Yvana y el resto del equipo; por eso quería hablaros de ellas, porque su experiencia y su continua labor de investigación son admirables.
Behind these creations are also Rosana’s mother and aunt, Teresa, whom I had the fortune to meet. Do you imagine to have as a pupil a woman with many years of experience and who makes these wonderful works I show you? At first I felt overwhelmed, but her enthusiasm removed my doubts. And this is the way Yvana and the rest of the team are; that is why I wanted to speak to you about them, because their experience and continuous research work are admirable.
